A 1111101000 blessings on all your bits and bytes. Best wishes team :-)
Thanks for the chance to comment - looking forward to viewing / hearing about the results.
I found these questions irrelevant. Picking a top 5 of anything does not acknowledge the interdependent of many applications. Perhaps I could have seen the point if it was the top 5 in a given genre of software.
I concurrently use many more than 5 applications every time I fire up my computer so picking a top 5 does not make sense to me.
interested to hear what others have to say...
what did you use to create this survey.
Tough choices! I use most of the applications listed and find value in almost all of them. The key for me is to choose the app/tool that best matches to task I want to do and some work better than others.
The tools I want to learn more about are needs for more advanced knowledge/experience. My priorities today would probably change next week--it's the nature of Web 2.0. :-)
Yes. BBEdit / TextWrangler. Also check out http://a.viary.com/. Why did you mention Bubbl.us but not MindMeister? Nice list! I'll be exploring it.
Thanks for the invitation to participate in your survey; it helped me organize my current priorities, quickly though. There are other programs that I like or don't but couldn't recall them :)
Very difficult to choose apps and tools; was forced to choose ones that I use with work; some of the apps were more environments than tools - that needs to be distinguished.
5 programs seems a bit much. How about top 3 only?
Forgot the other software I hate---report package for DEECD
I use Bloglines as my main aggregator. It's my right hand and very easy to explain to students.
ie 7 is very unstable Scratch want to use that Mindstorms Monkey Jam Squeak ePALS Gaggle.net
I forgot to include google docs in programs that I love.
Keep up the good work. I would like to the Vic Education Dept put money into software like microworlds rather than Kahooz.
Darrel Branson is a strange man and should not be left alone with a computer.
The frustrating thing about most of the sites you have listed for the favourite software question is that they are blocked at my school because of the CEOM (Catholic Education Office of Melbourne) filter!
would you consider a WEB2.0 conference early next year? you will get an invite soon.
practical classroom practices e.g how to use these great ideas you produce with only 4 computers in a room. Classroom time management
There are a huge number of software tools I use. Some are "staples", while others I might use for a specific time/purpose, then leave them until I need them again.
I didn't write anything for programs I dislike because most of the time, my negative attitude is due to ignorance or frustration rather than the fault of the software.
I can't do without the flock browser. It's excellent for social/educational networking
it was hard to think of programs that I dislike. If I didn't like it I probably wouldn't have spent any time learning to use it.
If you can work out a way that I could have more time to learn the software I want to learn I would hold you in the highest possible esteem for ever.
Could you please communicate what you intend to do with the results of this survey.
There are software programs that I find frustrating but persist with to understand
Also great: - jott.com - SnagIt and how could I forget Jing? - termites seating planner http://tinyrock.com/termites/ - Skype - Scratch
Your software list left out some major programs (while including other minor ones). I know it's hard to come up with a comprehensive list, though. This was fun. Thanks (and good luck)!
I don't particularly dislike any software, I just don't use products that I don't find easy to use.
I couldn't think of 5 apps I really don't like. There are many I don't use, but that is usually because I've already got something that does the job, and don't see any need to have to applications that do the same thing.
I REALLY like the National Virtual Manipulatives. http://www.mattimath.com It's worth the money I'm about to pay for it. It works well on the interactive whitboards and great for kids on computers. Best thing for classroom I've used in ages.
Don't really dislike programs I just use those most suited to my needs. Sometimes that is a little shareware program. I use the program until I find something better.
Sorry, couldn't think of anything I didn't like
Go Open-Source software all the time
Most the time the frustrating aspect of technology is not any specific program or software but the potential 'expectations' of the technology
not being met due to being too slow or computers freezing, logging on to the net having problems when you really need it to work, etc.
Just in time learning works best for me - I taught myself how to make graphs in Excel inside 10 mins when I really needed to!
We need social software so that teachers and students can communicate as part ofg their daily practice
I did not fill in the dislike section as there is nothing that i really dislike. if there is something i just close out of it and do not go there again. The online world values diversity, so should we as users.
Enjoy reading your stuff and the occasional listen. Keep it going!
Amazing that all these different progrmas exist. It would be great to know what all their applications might be to educational leadership.
Software often needs a personal 'hook' before it enters the professional practice of a person, especially if they're busy.
Do I get a reward for answering the questions at midnight?
It is much harder to select software that is disliked unless I select old redundant software or closed software. I can't really say that there is any software I can't live without as there are always alternatives. Thanks.
